MESSUMS WEST is a leading gallery and arts centre set inside a restored thirteenth-century tithe barn with surrounding buildings, gallery space, sculpture garden and restaurant. It hosts a wide range of exhibitions, symposiums and performances throughout the year.
MESSUMS LONDON is a commercial gallery space located on Cork Street, behind the Royal Academy. It hosts a varied programme of exhibitions focussed around post-war and contemporary art.
MESSUMS EAST will open in Spring 2026 at the Old Post Office, Lowestoft, as a venue for exhibitions, artist studios, residencies and community engagement.
THE MESS at Messums West is an ideal place to reflect on the art on display whilst catching up with friends and family over a freshly ground coffee or speciality tea with homemade cake. Our indoor café houses a wide selection of art books for guests to browse, enjoy and purchase; and the courtyard garden offers the chance to soak up the beautiful Wiltshire countryside that surrounds Messums West.
Light Gallery lunches are served from midday – 2.30pm Thursday, Friday and Monday and until 3pm Saturday and Sunday.
Set in buildings on a converted American World War II Airbase, MESSUMS STUDIOS have run as full-time teaching studios since 2021, offering term-based courses in ceramics and drawing, as well as one-on-one tuition and outreach. Its aim is to support life-long creative learning emphasising the individual’s development of their own creative language through specialist skills-based tuition.
Messums Studios helps to foster a community of creatives of all ages, abilities, and levels of expertise. Within our primary exhibition programming, audiences can continue to engage with making processes by connecting with our visiting and exhibiting artists through talks, studio visits and on-site workshops. Our guiding principle is the presentation of art as an empathetic language and the integration of creativity within communication.
The Green Room at Messums London is an unique space in the Cork Street gallery dedicated to showcasing innovative new and emerging contemporary art from around the world – a place to find exciting world-class talent before it takes centre stage. The intimate solo and mixed exhibitions in The Green Room operate separately from the main programme in the gallery, rotating regularly, creating a dynamic centre for emerging contemporary art at the heart of the London art world’s most prestigious street.
As specialists in twentieth century and contemporary sculpture, Messums have an unrivalled collection of Elisabeth Frink’s available to the art market along with many other fine examples of figurative sculptures in bronze, stone and marble.
Our collections and newly arrived artworks are housed at the Blackbarn storage facility and can be viewed by appointment at The Elisabeth Frink Studio.
In 2016, Messums saved Elisabeth Frink’s Woolland studio from demolition and in 2019 it was reconstructed in the tithe barn in Tisbury before finding a permanent home in Sutton Mandeville, Wiltshire.
