Messums Studios is the educational branch of Messums West.
The Tisbury-based pioneering multi-purpose gallery and Art Centre established Messums Studios in Chilmark in July 2021 as a teaching art studio. Its aim was to support life-long creative learning with the emphasis on the individual’s development of creative language through the tuition of making skills and material knowledge. Underpinned by the ambitious and eye-opening programme of art exhibitions, events and academic symposia, Messums Studios helps to foster a community of creatives of all ages, abilities, and levels of expertise.
Clay, pottery and ceramics was and remains the topic of primary focus. However, now in our fourth year we have expanded into drawing and painting and we seek to explore and grow our creative learning offer to other media and methods such as print and woodwork.
Christmas At the studio
Messums Studio Christmas Party in Chilmark will take place this year on 13th December from 6pm – 8pm at Messums Creative, Unit1, Homeland Security, Chilmark SP1 3DU
Come and join us for a cup of mulled wine and some festive bites.
Expect to see and be able to purchase some wonderful ceramic works of art created by our creative students/attendees throughout 2025. We are also all looking forward to our annual studio raffle with some wonderful prizes.
Messums Studios Drawing Pop-Up Exhibition – Drawing Together
Messums Studios’ drawing groups will be running our first ever pop-up exhibition this year. The exhibition will be displayed at The Victoria Hall in Tisbury, SP3 6LD
‘Drawing Together’ will present the work of our students who would like to share their developing ideas and practice. This work recognises and celebrates the diverse range of creative expression and pride amongst a thriving group of students within the community.

Kilns & Learning With Them | Capital Project
The capital project Pottery Kilns and Learning with Them includes the following new electric kiln, gas kiln and materials for our community to engage in building experimental outdoor kilns.
This project seeks to increase our energy efficiency, regenerate our current provision and expand the studios’ ceramic’s technology research potential available for our students.
Running a ceramics studio requires the use of specialist equipment, we seek funding for the following capital project. Please Donate.
