CERAMICS SYMPOSIUM: Yakimono – A Culture of Exchange

On 14 March Messums West will host the annual ceramic focused symposium to mark the launch day of Yakimono: a culture of exchange with speakers presenting a series of talks on the exhibition theme. Leading authorities presenting will including internationally renowned art and design historian Professor Paul Greenhalgh, author of Ceramic: Art and Civilisation and Dr Simon Kaner, Director of the Centre for Japanese Studies at the University of East Anglia.

Morning Session:

11:35: Makoto Kagoshima – Illustration demonstration
12:35: Q&A with Makoto

13:00 – 14:30: Lunch

Afternoon session:

14:30: Introduction: Johnny Messum
14:35: Dr Simon Kaner, archaeologist specialising in the prehistory of Japan
