Director of Photo Oxford Katy Barron will be joined by exhibiting photographers Sammy Hawker and Finn Gibson for a lively discussion on process, image making and landscape.
Sammy Hawker is an Australian-based visual artist whose exhibition ‘Ghosts [& Monsters] – Symbiosis and interspecies dialogue’ is currently on view in the tithe barn gallery. Sammy’s works explore the potential of interspecies dialogue, giving voice to the presences of more-than human worlds. These works reflect on how knowledge and memory is inscribed within materials, spaces and bodies. Sammy’s multi-disciplinary practice embraces photography, printmaking, text, sculpture, sound and moving image.
Finn Gibson, whose exhibition ‘Where the Road Leads’ is opening on 29th November, is a British photographic artist whose work explores the spirit and sensation of being immersed within a landscape. His image making process involves observing and interrogating the relationship between people and place. Captivated by the natural world and untamed landscapes, Gibson makes regular trips to remote regions of the British Isles and beyond.
