This five-week figurative sculpture course concentrates on observation skills and expression, studying anatomy and gaining inspiration from great sculptors, including Rodin, Frink, Matisse, Marini and others, looking at what made their work special.  We will be working with life models, investigating individual form and looking for shapes that surprise us. This is a safe space to learn and try out different approaches.

Students will learn different clay working techniques, the use of armatures and how to prepare pieces for firing.

Each block of five sessions will have a slightly different emphasis, depending on students’ experience and inclinations.

Charlotte Moreton is a Wiltshire-based artist who trained at the Frink School of Figurative Sculpture (1999-2001). Her practice derives from nature and her background in nature conservation work, and her sculpture is greatly influenced by trees and nature.  Described by Jonathan Dimbleby as “a very talented sculptor”, Charlotte is also an experienced, insightful and sensitive tutor.
