This painting is made up of a series of narrow panels that can be assembled in any number of different sequences. In leaving the arrangement of the image open-ended, the Howard Morgan seems to address fragmentary nature of life and how people can all experience one subject The Beach differently. By letting the viewer alter the canvas sequence, Howard Morgan allows us to personalise his art in a way that cannot be done with other artworks. You may be able to decide where an artwork is hung in your home but it is not often that you can decide the composition yourself.
