Shirley Foote grew up in Wiltshire and trained at the West of England Academy in the 1950’s. She worked in ceramics for over 20 years, before becoming a full-time painter in 1993. Her abstract paintings are informed by both urban and rural landscapes. Recurring motifs and a distinctive palette of soft, shimmering colours define her works, which are known for their spacious compositions, fluid use of line. Shirley now lives and works in west Cornwall.
