“Dawn illuminates the golden grasses of the wide Marienfluss valley in the extreme North of Namibia, just below the Kunene river that marks the Angolan border. An indigenous Himba population of only 340 people here, about one per square kilometre, graze this beautiful land with cattle and goats. Somewhat alarmingly I was warned that leopards prowled the knoll I climbed to take this photograph, but I never saw them.”
