Acrylic on linen
60 x 90 cm
Harry Martin is a contemporary painter based in London. Having grown up in the Southern Highlands in Australia, he is drawn to viscerally tonal and clean atmospheric landscapes, attempting to transport viewers into serene, expansive landscapes, capturing the profound stillness of rural life with a modern touch.
Using textured acrylic on coarse weave linen, he balances softness and roughness to reflect the raw essence of nature. Through the use of a limited colour pallet, muted tones and use of a palette knife, he creates contemplative spaces where viewers can lose themselves in vast skies and rolling hills. Inspired by agrarian life, the scenes are devoid of activity yet rich in atmosphere. They invite a pause to appreciate the subtleties of light and space, offering an escape and a reminder of nature’s enduring beauty and splendour.
