The upcoming online ‘Landscape Symposium’ invites artists and curators to explore these ideas. This symposium will serve as a platform for discussions that bridge artistic expression with environmental awareness, focusing on how landscapes can inspire and be transformed by creative endeavours. Discussions will delve into how curatorial practices shape the relationship between art, artists and the environment, examining the ways in which landscapes are portrayed, preserved, and reimagined in contemporary art.
Central to the symposium will be discussions on the role of artist of fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the natural world through unique experiences such as residencies. As artists engage with different landscapes, they develop new works that not only reflect their surroundings but also raise awareness of the landscape. Each artists brings a unique background that broadens the possibility of perspective shifts. The symposium will highlight how these experiences influence the presentation of art, encouraging a dialogue on the role of art in promoting environmental consciousness.
The symposium will feature interviews with participating artists, providing insight into their creative processes and how landscapes influence their work. Artists will share their personal journeys, revealing the ways in which their art is shaped by the environments they encounter.
