David Spiller (1942 – 2018) was a British artist known for a playful, nostalgic Pop Art style that frequently featured iconic cartoon characters, including Popeye, Minnie Mouse, and others, set against textual and musical motifs. His signature style was characterised by patchwork grids and a palette of primary colours, overlaid with handwritten, poignant lyrics or quotes borrowed from the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and more. A graduate of the Slade School of Art, Spiller’s work has been exhibited widely and his pieces are part of major collections including the Pallant House Gallery, U.K.
