Saturday 10 May, 2pm, free event
Join us at the opening of Peter Logan’s new exhibition for an artist talk and the premiere presentation of ‘Square Dance’, a kinetic sculpture exhibited and acquired by the Tate.
Creating kinetic sculptures that express the spirit and movement of life is the essence of Peter Logan’s work. Informed inter-disciplinarily by mathematics and engineering, Logan’s sculptures are the visual meeting point between art and science, aesthetics and technology.
Early works, 1969-79 were rigorously composed and programmed performances of electronic, mechanical ballets. At first these were exhibited in interior spaces and later in outdoor locations. From 1975, working alongside nature, Logan developed his wind-powered sculpture and later on solar-energised sculpture.
